The project

The Bibliografia romana on-line records documents published since 1989 on the subject of the city of Rome, from the early Middle Ages to the present.

The project was initiated in 1994 through the collaboration of Roman scholarly and cultural institutions and has already produced a retrospective bibliography in a printed version, with a cd-rom, containing about 10,000 bibliographic citations: Bibliografia Romana 1989-1999, Cittą di Castello, Edimond, 2004.

The on-line version, the continuation of the first stage of the project, also includes the bibliographic citations from the printed volume.

The citations (to monographs, articles, and contributions in multi-author works) are identified through the catalogues of the member institutions and through the analytical perusal of journals, multi-author works and general and specialised databases.

The Editors of the Bibliografia romana wish to thank the Fondazione Besso and their Director, Antonio Martini, for the regular meeting space that the foundation kindly provides.
