For the season 2006/2007 we are organizing 3 different seminars with artists and scintists, about networked performance. To explore the expressive possibility of tools like, video-streaming, web conference, simposia on-line, virtual worlds like Second Life. 
There will be an introduction to the possibilty of live interaction for dance and thatre performance, with software like Isadora. 



VIRTUAL WORLD OF ART

Thomas Soetens
Workspace Unlimited - artist - Initiator Breaking the Game
Thomas Soetens, born in Belgium is a new media artist. In 2002 he co-founded the international artist collective Workspace Unlimited. Thomas Soetens explores the creative potential of multiplayer game technology in relation to digital art and architecture. In his artistic practice he focuses mainly on immersive environments, experience design, hybrid space, information architecture and networks. He is the leading art director of Virtual World of Art (VWA), a series of networked virtual environments connected to different new media centers in Europe and North America. Along the permanent visibility of VWA, Thomas Soetens participates in research projects and is frequently invited to lectures and exhibitions in Europe and Canada. In 2004 he was commissioned by the V2_, Institute for the Unstable Media, in Rotterdam, to produce the central work for the Dutch Electronic Art Festival (DEAF04).

Kora Van den Bulcke
Workspace Unlimited - architect - Initiator Breaking the Game
Kora Van den Bulcke was born in Belgium and studied architecture at the University of Montreal in Canada. She received the Gold Medal of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada for The Invention factory. Prototypes of her concepts and ideas have been exhibited and published at the Architecture Foundation in London, The Lighthouse in Glasgow, the Zeppelin Museum in Germany and the V2_Institute in Rotterdam. In 2002 she co-founded Workspace Unlimited and is now exploring the possibilities of virtual architecture using computer game technology and other forms of new media focusing mainly on immersive responsive environments, experience design, hybrid space, information architecture and networks. She is currently working on the Implant project and is involved in a Belgian research project The Virtual Art Centre of the Future investigating the possibilities of hybrid architecture for cultural institutions.

•	 Johannes Birringer is an independent media choreographer and artistic director of AlienNation Co., a multimedia ensemble that has collaborated on various site-specific and cross-cultural performance and installation projects since 1993. After directing international workshops on dance and technology in Europe, he created the new dance and technology program at The Ohio State University (1999-2003). While teaching at OSU he founded and conducted the "Environments Laboratory."
      In 2003 he founded the Interaktionslabor Göttelborn, Germany, a summer laboratory located in a former coal mine and focused on research in new media performance and interactive systems. He is also a Principal Research Fellow in Live Art at the School of Art and Design, Nottingham Trent University, where he directs a telematic dance lab (LATela).
      He has created numerous stage works, video and film installations, and interactive and online collaborative performance work since 1986. He has published widely on the visual and performing arts, and his books include Theatre, Theory, Postmodernism (1991), Media and Performance: along the border (1998), and Performance on the Edge: Transformations of Culture (2000). He recently completed a new book on Dance Technologies: Digital Performance in the 21st Century. http://www.brunel.ac.uk/dap







•    Mark Coniglio programmatore/artista e Dawn Stoppiello coreografa/regista,  entrambi provenienti dalla California Institute of the Arts, insieme formano la TROIKA RANCH di New York. I partecipanti al workshop apprenderanno come gestire attraverso il movimento o i gesti del corpo, un’interfaccia interattiva che controlla varie periferiche quali sorgenti video, sintetizzatori audio, illuminazioni teatrali ecc. In pratica questo software insieme ad un’interfaccia midi e sensori di motion-capture sono in grado di rendere il performer "animatore" in tempo reale di qualsiasi strumento digitale. http://www.troikaranch.org/
