Geometric morphometrics (GM)
has become the most used statistical tool in exploring size and
shape variation in
a variety of disciplines, from
forensic anthropology to evolutionary paleobiology. Several
workshops have been organized
in order to introduce GM
techniques.
However there is a need for
advanced courses focused on specific research fields.
The Geometric Morphometrics
Laboratory for Systematics and Evolutionary researches
is an advanced course addressed
to PhD students and researchers
already skilled on basic GM
techniques and statistics.
The course will be devoted to
GM tools for systematics and evolutionary researches.
Lessons will focus on advanced
GM data analyses, such as PLS,
comparative methods,
ontogenetic allometry, modularity, semilandmarks
and outlines, including 3D
data. The course will include morning and afternoon lessons
followed by lab.
