Human Resource Management

lauree magistrali di nuova attivazione

Course objectives:

The course addresses the topic of Human Resources Management aiming to:
A) provide a theoretical framework of the discipline, highlighting its historical and conceptual origins and recent developments;
B) analyze the contents of personnel management policies and the main features of the operational tools used in business practice for their implementation;
C) analyze specific issues related to the specific needs of people management in order to illustrate the variety of possible situations and the criteria by which to make choices.
Case studies and presentations of business practices will be widely used in order to illustrate particular themes in a real-life context and to stimulate critical analysis, discussion and reflection on the issues raised. Historically the purpose of People Management is the intervention on people’s behavior, trying to align it with organizational requirements and strategic objectives. Therefore the course includes a monographic module on “organizational behavior” focused on the issues that historically have been addressed in the study of the behavior of people at work. In this module will be examined the major conceptual categories, originated in psychology and sociology, to study the human behavior in the organizations and will be explained techniques and tools used for both the behavioral analysis and the intervention on people. More in detail the module addresses, among others, the concepts of: personality, motivation, group, conflict, culture, leadership and communication. Particular attention will be devoted to the innovations on these topics introduced by social networks and ICT.

The course is held in I semestre (from 29/9/2014 to 19/12/2014)
