Formative aims

The course provides elements for scheduling and management of road construction plan. The main topics concern: the organizational requirements for road works; the road construction management; the equipments for road construction; the effects of road construction work zones on traffic flow.

Roads, Railways, Airports


Course Programme

Legislative and organizational requirements for road construction management. Road construction management: Gantt, Critical Path Method, Program Evaluation and Review Technique. Personnel, materials and equipments required for the road construction. Road construction work zones and effects on traffic flow. Methods of tunnel construction. Management of safety in road construction: legislation, safety plans. Environmental effects of the road construction. Barrier: legislation, types, parameters of performance.


Teaching methods

The lectures will be integrated with a team work aimed at the development of a construction plan for a highway.


Learning assessment method

The exam consists of an oral test and a discussion on the exercise developed during the course.
