Luisa Muraro was born in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza). She graduated in Philosophy at Cattolica University in Milan and then supported by Gustavo Bontadini she started her academic career that was soon interrupted by the upheaval of ’68.
After teaching in Junior High Schools, since 1976 she has worked in the Department of Philosophy at Verona University. A feminist, she is one of the founders of Libreria delle Donne in Milan (1975) that publishes the quarterly magazine Via Dogana and the paper Sottosopra, and of the philosophical community Diotima (1984) that elaborated and popularized the thought of difference enscribing it in the contemporary reality.
She is considered one of the major creative contemporary philosophers. Along with a number of monographs she also wrote many essays, articles, writings in many academic journals, but also in many newspapers and magazines.
Her latest publication La folla nel cuore, is a collection of articles commenting every day events in which women, men, children, the elderly, and foreigners form a community in which human passions play a major role.
